How is this different from other books about reconnecting with an adult child?Almost every resource tells you what to say or do to change your child. This is built the other way around. It steadies you, because a steady parent changes the whole room without chasing, cornering, or fixing anyone.

Do we have to be fully estranged for this to help?No. It meets you wherever you are, whether you talk every week but feel tension, or you have not spoken in years. The practice is the same: you become steadier, so the relationship has a safer place to land.

Is this the same as therapy?No. It is a guided daily practice, not therapy, and it does not replace it. Many people use it alongside their therapy. It gives you something you can do within your own power, one day at a time.

Is it religious?It is faith-rooted and written to welcome anyone. A scripture opens each week, and the language in the prayers and reflections is warm and invitational, never exclusive.

How much time does it take, and do I have to start in January?A few minutes a day. Some days you write, most days you read, notice, and return. The journal is undated, so it begins the day you open it. No catching up, no falling behind.

Does this promise my child and I will reconcile?No, and we will always be honest with you about that. It does not promise reconciliation and it does not try to fix your child.
